How do we run an auction on BetterWorld?

You can run an online or live auction on BetterWorld!

When you create an auction on BetterWorld, there are two options: online bidding only or live bidding only.

Online Auctions

Online bidding is set up for online and in-person bidding in real-time so that people can bid by phone, computer, and table (regardless of where they are). Functionally, this is closest to an "online silent auction." The benefit of this is that everything is instant and seamless. Nothing manual, just one system where everyone can participate and support your cause in real time. Once the event ends, all cards can be charged with a single click, receipts issued automatically, and winners connected with their items, regardless of where they are. One option is using our software for the silent auction and putting 95% of the items there. It's automated, it runs itself, and it's fewer moving pieces. Then take a few items and do them 'Live' to make them special. Of note: if there are a few items you'd like to advertise online but accept bids in person, you can 'disable online bidding' by clicking on the item and then "Advanced"  in the top menu. Live Auctions
With "Live Auctions" the bidding is by nature a bit chaotic and manual. (That's also the fun of it!) It's also really designed for people in the room, not for people participating from afar. For a step-by-step guide on how to create a live auction, click here.
