The easiest way to receive funds it to link a Stripe account. It's free, fast, and makes sure you get the funds in your account quickly! To setup your Stripe account and receive your funds, head to Payments & Payouts in the dashboard, then Bank Account, and click the button to connect or create a Stripe account. It's easy and takes ~5 minutes! You'll be directed to a Stripe page where you can complete the account and it will automatically link with BetterWorld.
In some cases, we do offer the option to receive a payout by check. Please reach out to our team through the Contact Us portal at the top of the page. PLEASE NOTE: this service comes with additional certain restrictions and costs. We deduct a $55 processing charge and we wait 45 days after the end of your campaign to pass along the funds.
Why do we add an extra cost and delay here? Two reasons: First, we want to encourage you to link your Stripe account. It's cleaner accounting, more intuitive for your donors (seeing your name on the CC statement as opposed to ours), and easier for everyone involved. It's also free! Second, and more importantly, writing a check is a liability for our business. We've had scenarios where we send a check to an organization and then, several weeks later, a donor disputes a charge. When this happens, funds (along with a fee) are immediately debited from our accounts, sometimes permanently. The problem is that we've already passed along the funds. For a single organization it may not seem like a big deal, but spread out over the 25,000 organizations (and counting!) that use BetterWorld, it's a real risk for us. The $55 covers our time and any expenses we incur. The 45 day delay gives enough time to handle most chargebacks or failed charges before we send a check. We hope you understand that our goal with this policy is not to make an extra buck or cause any inconvenience. We're trying to build a company that can sustainably serve thousands of nonprofits everyday.
