Why can't I delete the "Make a Donation" Campaign?

This campaign cannot be deleted, but here is what you can do instead...

When you first create a BetterWorld account, you are ready to start receiving donations immediately through your standard donation campaign titled "Make a Donation." That donation campaign is created automatically when an account is set up and cannot be deleted or archived. The reason we keep this campaign active and not able to be completely deleted is that there is an automated email after auctions thanking donors and giving them an opportunity to donate to you if they didn't win their items. There needs to be a donation page in place for this to work! That campaign is also what is linked to the donate button on your homepage by default.

Although that campaign cannot be deleted, you can hide the donation page by switching the visibility to restricted. The page will still exist, but it will no longer be on your profile and can only be accessed if someone is sent the link.

Changing this campaign to restricted will also automatically remove the Donate button from your organization's page. You can change the campaign the donate button on your page links to here! Check out this step-by-step support article on How to Edit or Remove the Donate Button.

If the link to this donation campaign has already been shared with previous donors, and you do not want donors to donate to this campaign accidentally through accessing it from the link, one suggestion is to change the title of this campaign and hyperlink a new campaign to this campaign's description, so if anyone does end up there from a link that was previously shared, they will be re-directed to your new campaign.
